Sheep and Wool Festival

Chris and I did end up going to Dutchess County this past weekend for the Sheep and Wool festival - it was a perfect weekend for fall colors and really nice sceneryon the drive down. I never knew Dutchess County had such nice views. The festival was in Rhinebeck but we stayed overnight in a Saugerties and checked out the lighthouse on the Hudson and the little town. Here are some pictures of spinning, the sheep dog trials and the historic lighthouse (which is a bed and breakfast too).

  1. Ya. Turns out the Hudson valley region is gorgeous. Who knew? I nominate 145 through the catskills as once of the most scenic roads in the NE.

  2. I knew!!! Yay for Dutchess County! It's nice that you saw it and appreciated it now because its changing very quickly and becoming a bedroom community for the city.

So you both are learning how to do what those ladies in black are doing? Is it hard? Any idea why the lady in the top of the photo is wearing a crown?

  3. I have no idea what was up with that tiara thingy.

Where I grew up 2+ hrs from the city is also turning into a bedroom community, which I can not fathom.

Someday maybe when everyone realizes the error of living in suburbia and moves back into cities there will be a new movement called suburban-renewal to preserve the legacy of strip-malls, SUVs, soccer, and "no-longer-evergreen terrace" type developments.
