Our weather has been thus:
Last week - not a degree above freezing
Today and tomorrow - lows between 25-35, highs around 40 (pretty good!)
Next few days - lows in the 40s
Makes for pretty icky sap. Any plans for syrup in NY?

Yes, assuming a 2-week vacation to Florida doesn't fall in exactly the sapflow weather window.
ReplyDeleteHowever, in discussing the matter last nite with Jon, I am reluctant to tap my 2 monstrous sugar maples, due to stress that they have received in the last couple years.
So, we may resort back to our moonlit sap thievery ways. Assuming we do indeed see the moon; using flashlights last time seemed to attract starving coyotes, and we almost lost Jon.
No losing Jon! I hope your trip to Florida is wonderful! Two weeks on vacation sounds glorious.
ReplyDeleteThere have been a couple times that coyotes have surrounded me and Jon, late at nite, in the middle of nowhere, and gotten close, and I can never figure it out; are they sizing him up or me?
