This sucks

Why do we even bother creating our own environmental laws?

  1. I'll bet we actually have a bit of control over that pollution. I'm willing to guess the products produced from the factories are cheap crap sent to the US, and much of the computer waste is from here. We've outsourced our pollution as well as the jobs.

  2. I agree JoAnna. Additionally, I wonder how much different our landscape looked if we were to rewind the clock to the during our rise and peak of industrial power. The chemicals were different, surely, but the environmental degradation and insensitivity to the value of life, human or otherwise, was likely similar.

We create environmental laws so we can try to hold others to the same or similar standard - a do as I do and not as I say.

Look at where the stuff you buy is made - vote with your dollars and purchase things made where there are protections put in place that value the environment. It is difficult, it takes time, but is also how we show we care.

  3. OK good points but you tell me where I find a computer to buy that is not made in China. Yet again we are not paying the true cost of goods.

Vote with your dollars simply doesn't cut it. Perhaps we need more trade protection and less globalization.

    Very frustrating.
